Instagram looks set to replace the catwalk as the first place to look for new fashion. It acts as a platform for those of any gender, ethnicity and age to express their fashion views.

Expression

It has helped to increase the amount of fashion bloggers who are male, allowing men to receive tips and help with what to wear and when and possibly feel not alone as despite majority of stereotypes becoming irrelevant, their is still an element of social stigma around males liking fashion and being seen to be ‘gay’.

Instagram has helped to stop typical gender stereotypes, for example ‘fashion being predominantly feminine’,    Instagram has allowed men who take an interest in fashion to show off their styles.

A Place to Learn

Everyone can now be part of the menswear scene, with Francesca York, Social Media and Marketing Manager at River Island believing social media has allowed this. “Social media is the perfect channel in which men can engage with fashion. It has allowed them to become more visible and vocal within the fashion world. There are many more opportunities to voice their opinions and for those opinions to be heard by a wider audience, outside of their own peer groups”.

Instagram has created a space that let’s people see what’s going on in menswear. It allows men to interact with new styles and trends without having to partake. You can see how other men style clothes and it can be seen as a place to learn.

Helping Brands

With access to social media just seconds away in our pockets, to now see what’s new and what’s trending, Instagram can tell you through a quick search. The menswear community has somewhere to share their style and start a conversation. Brands can directly talk to its customers and Influencers, and Bloggers can share their work with an audience that’s engaged and ready to interact.

Becoming Noticed

Instagram has also helped modelling companies scout new talent. With millions of users, companies are able to search through public profiles and get in contact with people who fit the description of what they are looking for, they are guarenteed to find someone, simply through sending a direct message which instantly gains them contact with the person they are interested in.

V FESTIVAL http://charlottecoombes.com/location/v-festival/ http://charlottecoombes.com/location/v-festival/#comments Mon, 22 Aug 2016 18:59:43 +0000 http://charlottecoombes.com/?p=226 ♥V Festival – Hylands Park, Chelmsford ♥

V was celebrating their 21st birthday, their line up consisted of artists such as Justin Bieber, Rihanna, David Guetta, Little Mix, Years & Years, Stormzy, Sia, Example, Big Sean, Tinie Tempah, John Newman and the list goes on.

I had no idea what to expect and what to bring to a festival as this was my first one. It was better than i expected. It was not the most comfortable place, however by the end of the night you were knackered so it was not particularly hard to fall asleep. The festival was cleaner than i thought it would be, the toilets were cleaned often and usually had toilet paper inside, the only annoying part was the girls line, my friends and i often found ourselves sneaking into the boys ones as there was rarely a line.

The campsite was quite a walk from all the stages which was a downside, however the atmospheres of each artist was incredible. Although being caught in a mosh pits, which your friends have created was not always that fun (My feet and legs are severely bruised) The atmosphere for Rihanna especially, was something i had never seen, her set was incredible and everyone was hyped. Justin unfortunately was clearly not in the right mood, he was lip syncing, began to cry and explain how he was hungover. His set was still good, we all enjoyed ourselves massively, regardless if the act is not what you expected, being with your friends and slightly intoxicated is honestly the best mix.

During the weekend i think i ate, 2 lots of chips, a couple of slices of pizza, some noodles and random crisps. Next time i would definitely bring more food for myself as you need a lot of energy throughout the day, and festival food is not cheap. Also drink as much water as you can, crowded areas will make you over heat and become dehydrated so quickly. Another tip, make sure you are always with a friend, i made the mistake of losing all of my group and have never been so scared, luckily it didn’t take too long to find them again.

♥WHAT TO BRING♥

  • Wipes of any kind, showers aren’t always the cleanest and accessible, so find some wipes to keep you feeling fresh.
  • Food; Breakfast bars to crisps
  • WATER!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Portable Chargers
  • Clothes; Shorts, Trackies, Jumpers, Tops, Long Socks (for wellies) etc
  • Make Up

  • Sleeping Bag

WHERE TO – Bikinis http://charlottecoombes.com/fashion/where-to-bikinis/ http://charlottecoombes.com/fashion/where-to-bikinis/#comments Wed, 10 Aug 2016 19:20:37 +0000 http://charlottecoombes.com/?p=143 This year I decided to update my bikini collection. I wasn’t looking for expensive bikinis like Triangl (which are incredible, however I was able to buy 5 for a similar price for one) I instantly thought to check out Missguided. The prices of their swimwear range from £30 and under, the average being £22. I found 5 different pieces of swimwear in different styles

HIGH WAISTED

l1223035_tsanna_12.07.16_mc_35289_a

The best thing about a white bikini is it will definitely enhance your tan. This bikini is super comfortable and its adjusting straps which are also removable will help to stop awkward tan lines, it can transform into a bandeau. With there being a mixture of black in the bikini, the bottoms can easily be swapped for a plain black pair which are not high waisted if you want something different, as a downside to high waisted is a large portion of your stomach is hidden from the sun resulting into a very awkward tan line. This set also comes in the colour purple.

MIX & MATCH; HIGH WAISTED

A massive bonus with Misguided swimwear is the ability to be able to order a bikini top and brief separately. This gives their customers more freedom to almost customise their own bikini. Their high waisted briefs are very flattering and comfy, the bikini top, is very similar to a bra so will hold you in very well, reducing the risk of you falling out if you purchase the right size. This particular set come in colours such as; black, white, mint green, blue & floral.

SWIMSUIT

l1223350_julia_28.04.16_mc_821140_aIMG_3392

This red all in one is very similar to 90s Baywatch swimwear. I find these types of swimsuits very flattering and easy to wear. If you’re having a day where you’re not particularly feeling your body, this helps to hide those flaws and make its easier for you to relax and not stress over what you look like, however there is a risk of awkward tanlines.

CUT OUT SWIMSUIT

IMG_4290 l5222048_lisamarie_20.05.15_mc_404990_a

This by far is one of my favourites. Unfortunately I purchased this last year, it’s still available on the US Missguided and is in the sale which is a bonus, and i’ve seen it on asos. Anyway, there are many dupes and similar styles, but these are undoubtably the most practical and comfortable types of swimsuit, ignoring the very very awkward tan lines, (I know I mention them a lot, but it is very helpful to know) they’re just overall so cute and flattering. Missguided have a whole rang of different styles, and the best advice is to wear them if you’re not in the sun for long, or possibly on your last days of holiday.

CROCHET BIKINI

l1222796_bruna_06.05.16_mc_831921_a

This material is meant to be the major key of the season. When i purchased this, everyone was quick to say, is that even practical? The bikini top has been seen as a normal bralet / lingerie top, which would be very unusual to be seen as as bikini top given the material, However it has been created in a way, that the inside is swimwear material and the outside is crochet, it is very practical, the only thing that is slightly different, is it drys slower, but things could be worse. Missguided have this bikini in other colours such as; white, green & black.

This bikini was totally out of my comfort zone, I have never worn something with such bright colours, i put it on and I instantly fell in love. This rasta style bikini definitely made me feel tropical. The bright colours are less boring and almost boosted my confidence, all the reactions were that the bikini was AMAZING. They also have it in the colours black and white. Try and reduce wearing black and white swimwear, you’ll find that bright colours are a lot more fun.

Overall my experience with Missguided swimwear has been incredible, I was happy with every single piece I received and I definitely will widen my collection with more pieces from their swimwear.

Milan, Italy http://charlottecoombes.com/location/milan-italy/ http://charlottecoombes.com/location/milan-italy/#comments Mon, 14 Mar 2016 16:47:44 +0000 http://charlottecoombes.com/?p=113 February 15th 2016

Milan has to be one of the most beautiful cities i have ever experienced, it involved my two favourite things; Shopping and Italian Food. Everyone was so welcoming, the atmosphere was so warm, and the streets were incredible.

Processed with VSCOcam with a9 presetIMG_5133IMG_5137

As Valentines day had just been, the streets were filled with red hearts hanging above the road, this made Milan look even more beautiful than it already did. It was getting to around 8pm and it amazed me how shops were still open, the streets were still filled, and i was able to eat my dinner outside, it wasn’t extremely warm, but it was a very pleasant temperature.

IMG_5148

Dinner was delightful, but i had an idea in my head that it was just going to be pasta and pizza, and i was very wrong. Pizza is a main course, however pasta is not, it is classed as a first course, you have it before your second course, which is typically meat and vegetables with no carbs. Being the child i am, and with my love for spaghetti bolognese, i had to ask if i could have it for a main, and without fail the restaurant filled my needs, although it was a lot smaller than the usual portion i have, it was actually a perfect size.

Grand Hotel et de Milan

Is one of the most beautiful hotels i have ever stayed in, The location is perfect, right by the fashion district, and as for the hotel and it’s flawless staff, it is very elegant, and has such a classy, warm feel, it felt as if i had stepped back in time, as the hotel was built in the 1860s it hasn’t changed massively, as a staff member told me they aspired to keep it as close to the original, it was definitely old world elegance with the right touch of luxurious class.

The Fashion District was INCREDIBLE. Right outside my hotel, was Armani, Gucci, Cartier, Versace and the list goes on, the shops were beautiful, and each one was guarded with security at the door, i almost felt too intimidated to enter, unfortunately all the shops are the expensive ones, apart from a little further out of the main district, there were shops such as Zara, Mango, Banana Republic and more, they were less intimidating to shop in, and i managed to spend a lot of money in them, but i did however, go inside of the more expensive ones, and they do treat you like a princess, overall it was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend Milan, as there is more to do than just shop, there is so much scenery to be viewed, food to eat and culture to learn about, obviously my intentions was to shop, but i would go again, to view the things i missed.

My next post, will be on DIOR, and my experience.

Catch it in the next few days

The Khaki Bomber Jacket http://charlottecoombes.com/fashion/the-bomber-jacket/ http://charlottecoombes.com/fashion/the-bomber-jacket/#comments Sun, 30 Aug 2015 16:15:04 +0000 http://charlottecoombes.com/?p=33 CNq1jo_WEAAbs0R

The Khaki Bomber Jacket

Both the colour Khaki and The Bomber Jacket are all that is in at the moment. In the pictures above and below, the Jacket is rocked by Eliza Fontana. The Jacket is simple, yet makes a bold statement. If all you like wearing is black or greys, the Khaki Bomber Jacket will give your outfit that pop of colour it’s seeking.

If you’re searching for a more toned down Bomber Jacket, the other two popular colours are Black and Navy. You can purchase The Khaki Bomber Jacket above from ASOS. ASOS have a wide range of colours from Black to Burgundy, prices range from £22-50. If you’re not about buying jackets online for reasons such as, the material, the size, then i suggest you try Topshop. Their Bomber Jackets are a little more pricey, but the quality is amazing, £55, comes in Black, Navy and Khaki. If that price is too high, i have seen the occasional bomber jacket in shops such as Forever 21, Bershka and New Look, their prices tend to range from £25-40.
